A victorious spring for Ukrainian rocketeers

20 Jun 2023

The war has affected almost all spheres of Ukrainian life, particularly sports. But despite the difficulties, the spring of 2023 was a victorious one for the Ukrainian Spacemodelling Sports Federation.

Even though the war has made it impossible for Ukrainian rocketeers to train fully within Ukraine, they were able to achieve  excellent results at international competitions.

The first competition in the 2023 season was the Kaspichan Cup 2023 in Bulgaria. Ukraine was represented by nine competitors from Chernihiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Team Ukraine brought home the following awards:

1st place S9A – Sofia Fisun (Dnipro);

2nd place S4A – Rodion Struzman (Dnipro);

2nd place S7 – Serhii Trush (Nizhyn);

3rd place S7 – Stepan Ivchenko (Nizhyn).

Next was the Stage of the FAI World Cup in Dubnica, Slovakia in May. 80 competitors vied for the championship in free-flying classes.

Ukraine was represented by Sofia Fisun and her coach, president of Ukrainian Spacemodelling Sports Federation Ihor Volkanov. Sofia won 3rd place in the  S9A class (long-range rockets with a rotor).

We are confident that Team Ukraine’s rocketeers have many more victories ahead. We wish them success!
