At the end of January, the second and final stage of the Third National Student Internet Astronomy Olympiad was held. The competition was supported by Association Noosphere, alongside our partners from the Astrosandbox project.
The Internet Olympiad was held in two stages, an online qualification stage and an in-person final competition held in Lviv.
33 schoolchildren from across Ukraine took part in the final stage. They competed in two rounds. The first, theoretical stage involved solving problems for calculating temperatures, the radii of satellite orbits, as well as determining the masses of binary star systems and their rotation periods. The practical round challenged competitors to solve astronomical problems using images of celestial objects and moving starry sky maps.
Olympiad winners received gifts from Noosphere, as well as motivation to work further in their study of astronomy.
Supporting young scientists who dream of studying the stars is one of Association Noosphere’s key missions. We have a long-standing partnership with the team at Astrosandbox to help develop young talents and motivate them towards new achievements and victories.
