Team Ukraine took part in the World Model Rocket Sports Championship in the United States, bringing back numerous team and individual awards.
Preparations for this year’s World Championship in Model Rocket Sports were difficult, with the full-scale Russian invasion significantly affecting Team Ukraine’s ability to train.
However, the competitors arrived at the competition in Austin, Texas with a determination to do themselves and their nation proud.
The 2023 World Rocket Modeling Championship were held from July 2 to 7. Team Ukraine won 6 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
Our junior team took 2nd place in the unofficial overall team standings. Our official winners were as follows:

1st place in the S1A class – high-altitude rocket models.

2nd place in the S4A class – model gliders with an accelerator for the duration of the flight.

3rd place in class S7 – the most difficult and spectacular class in model rocket sports. Entries are evaluated for the similarity of their model to the original, , as well as the realism of the model’s start and flight in accordance with the original.

Juniors:
1st place in the S1A class – models at the duration of the flight. Sofia Fisun (Dnipro). Sofia also took 1st place in the women’s competition in the same class.
1st place in the S4A class – models of gliders with an accelerator at the duration of the flight. Denys Mozok (Shostka).
1st place in the S5B class – replica models at flight height. Ivan Kiriyenko (Nizhyn).
3rd place in the S5B class – replica models at flight height, women’s competition. Sofia Fisun (Dnipro).
Adults:
1st place in the S2/P class – models of rockets with cargo that simulate astronaut safety systems during flight. The task is to send a load (a raw egg) into flight and then safely return both the rocket and the load to the ground. Oleksandr Radchenko (Nizhyn).
2nd place in the S3A class – model rockets at the duration of the flight with a parachute, women’s competition. Olga Khmil (Kyiv).
2nd place in the S7 class – Evaluated for visual and large-scale resemblance to the original, as well as the realism of the model’s launch and flight in accordance with the original. Serhii Trush (Nizhyn).
3rd place in the S1B class – high-altitude rocket models. Oleksandr Radchenko (Nizhyn).
