Starting April 1, young tech and science enthusiasts across Ukraine can take part in the National Rocket Modeling Competition for School Students. The event is organized by the Association Noosphere in partnership with the Ukrainian State Center for Extracurricular Education and the Ukraine Spacemodelling Sport Federation. It’s a perfect opportunity for kids who dream of becoming engineers, designers, or inventors.
The competition gives students the chance to show off their creativity, problem-solving skills, and hands-on engineering talents. Participants will build and launch their own rocket models, compete with peers from all over the country, and have the chance to win cash prizes. The contest is open to kids aged 15 and under. You can join individually or as part of a team, and participation is completely free.
The total prize pool is $2,000. Winners will be chosen in five categories—G-3-A, G-6-A, P-1-2, P-1-T, and “Air Games”—with each receiving a $400 cash prize (paid in Ukrainian hryvnias at the exchange rate on the announcement day). Runners-up will also receive certificates and gifts.
How to participate?
For individual participants:
- Build a rocket model that meets the competition rules
- Launch it three times and record each launch on video
- Upload your results using the special form on the competition website
For teams: Reach out to a local rocket modeling club in your city—they’ll help you prepare and register. A list of clubs is available on the competition website.
All rocket models must be made using simple, accessible materials like paper, foam, or wood—no fiberglass or carbon fiber allowed. Safety-first paper-based technology is the rule.
You can enter the competition until May 31. Winners will be announced after June 12.
